DENTAL CARE (How to take care of your teeth to prevent you from having mouth odor)


Dental care is the maintenance of healthy teeth that includes oral hygiene.
Oral hygiene is the practice of cleaning the human mouth and human teeth in different ways most common of all, is the tooth brushing with a tooth paste.

Introduction:
Maintaining the teeth is a state of health, is of utmost importance for complete digestion and nutrition, not only do the teeth serve several functions in the process, but they also affect our speech and
appearance. Your teeth are key to some of the most enjoyable things in life, like talking, smiling and enjoying your meal. The good news is that, it takes little more than a healthy diet and good oral hygiene habit to safe guard our smile well into your golden years.

Description of the Permanent Teeth
Apart from the milk teeth (28). The teeth are divided into different parts:
The Incisors, 4 Upper, 4 Lower.                      8
Canine, 2 Upper, 2 Lower.                               4
Premolar, 4 Upper, 4 Lower Premolar.          8
Molars, 6 Upper Molar, 6 Lower Molar.       12
Total                                                                  32
Functions:
Incisors: They are in front and are the sharpest teeth,
It is used for cutting food shape and shovels it inward.

Canine:   They are in the corner for grapping and tearing food and
They have very long root.

Premolar: They are behind the back, they are bigger and flatter because
They are forchewing and grinding food.

Molar:     They are the last towards the back; they are bigger and flatter than
The premolar for chewing and grinding food also.

We care most for the teeth to prevent diseases, tooth decay and cavity destruction of the hard tissues.
Tooth Decay (Dental Carries)
Tooth decay also knows as carries (Latin) or cavity destruction of the hard tissues of the teeth due to fermentation of food debris accumulated on the surface of the teeth.

Causes
·        Bacteria – due to the lack of brushing
·        Tobacco smoking
·        Chewing gum, candy and dried food
·        Picking of gum.

Signs and symptoms
·        Small Spots of Decay on the Surface of the Tooth
·        Hole in the Side of the Mouth
·        Chalky Whyte Spots
·        Bad Breath
·        Foul Tastes
·        Mouth Odor

TREATMENT
Once the holes have occurred the best is an X – ray of the teeth and the reward of the affected tooth to prevent spread to others.

·        Oral hygiene – brushing and flossing daily
·        Use of mouth wash
·        Minimize snacks and sugar intake
·        Advice mothers not to share cup with infants
·        Stop candy and chewing gum
·        Dental sealant – thin plastic like coating applied to the chewing surface of the molar to avoid food from trapping in between the teeth.
·        Inspection of teeth using a good light source

How to brush our teeth:
·        Brush first thing in the morning using tooth paste and tooth brush.
·        Start the brushing inside out then up and down.
·        Brush off all the dirty on your tongue.
·        Brush also at night before bed time.

When we fail to brush, we can develop:
·        Gingivitis – inflammation of the gum
·        Stomatitis - inflammation of the mucous membrane.

Definition of terms:
Dentist:                A medical doctor who specialize in dentistry.
Dental carries:     Destruction of the hard tissues of the teeth.
Gingivitis:            Inflammation of the gum
Stomatitis:           Inflammation of the mucous membrane
Denture:              Artificial teeth.
Absences:             Formation of pus in the cavity.
Conclusion:
For us to be happy, successful and maintain our integrity, we must keep our teeth clean.
